GPS
I’ve read a good bit about the relatively new “sport” of Geocaching, and I’ve been itching to try it. The reason I haven’t is that it requires a Global Positioning System, or GPS, and I don’t have one. Sure, I could have borrowed one or bought one of my own, but I’ve had so much going on that Geocaching had sunk below my radar screen.
Recently, my older daughter and I were talking about it, and she said she was interested in trying it out. She lives in Arlington, VA, and there are probably thousands of caches around there. When I checked a few months ago, there were several hundred in my town, so this thing is really growing.
Today I received as a birthday present a card and a notice that I will be receiving a GPS from my 2 daughters and son-in-law in a couple of days. I absolutely can’t wait to get the device and to start Geocaching.
The person who set me on to this is a former student (and life-long friend, by definition, because he’s a former student), and he “discovered” me on the web because of this blog. I’ve got a GPS learning curve I’ve got to master, but learning new stuff like that is right up my alley. I’ll probably have a lot to say about Geocaching in future posts.

That Geocaching thing does sound pretty nifty. Good luck with all that.
Yay! *happy dance* I’m so glad you’re getting a GPS unit! You’ll be hooked in no time. I can’t wait to hear what you think about it.
